Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't written in a few days. I work 8 days on/6 days off. I'm currently on day 6 of 8... I actually like my schedule because of the multiple days off in a row, but I would be lying if I wasn't super tired by the end. My hope is to eventually end up on day shift at a bigger hospital. But for now, nights is okay. I'm young and I need money lol.

But to add to being tired, I haven't slept super great lately. My mom's having a procedure done this morning, a heart catheterization, which is very routine but... I'm still nervous. After work I'm driving an hour to the hospital she'll be having the procedure done at. I plan on taking a nap in the waiting room with my dad, and leaving as soon as my mom is in recovery/awake so I can head home and get a little more sleep before work tonight. I'll give her a hug, listen to how the procedure went from the doctor, and then head out.

Currently I'm working on the Gemma Cardigan by IAmLanka on Etsy/Instagram. It was a little tough at first -- although it's made up of very basic stitches, the counting for the first set of repeat rows threw me off and I had to frog twice before getting a good start. I've had to frog a couple more rows because of counting issues. The one thing about crochet is that it will very quickly teach you that you can't count worth a damn.

I've also been trying to eat a little healthier. It's hard. Really hard. I feel like I try taking care of myself better in one way, and I start slacking in another, and then I get frustrated because juggling it all feels impossible. I don't know how "normal" people do it. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself, because I actually have made some progress, especially with tolerating textures better. Still, I know I have a long way to go. I just have to continue trying.

On a happier note... my kitty Junebug turns 4 this month, on the 30th! I can't believe it. He used to fit in the palm of my hand and now he's a big ol' bruiser. We got him when he was a month old. He was the kitten of my sister's friend's barn cats -- but instead of chasing mice all day, he gets to lounge around inside and cry for treats whenever I walk by the cabinet.
Junebug, an orange and white kitten, sits in my lap. I'm a white person with shoulder length brown hair and glasses.

Junebug, an adult cat now, stands on his back legs, begging for me to give him a treat.

I have a lot of comments to reply to (thank you, everyone!) so I'm going to try and reply to people over the next few days. I apologize in advance if I don't reply to yours -- sometimes I just have no idea what to say. The pandemic really wrecked my social skills, both online and off. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed with one-on-one conversation (not your fault, it's a Millie Brain thing). But I do appreciate y'all taking the time to write something. I'm also going to try and catch up on everyone's posts and comment, too.

Anyway, thank you for reading. Sorry I post at such weird hours (but I guess part of Dreamwidth's beauty is it compiles everyone's posts for you, so even if someone posts exclusively at 3 in the morning, you can see it). I'll try and write again tonight, maybe. At least in the next couple of days.
